Norman Beaker is one of the established names of British blues. Active since the late 1960s, he has worked with some of the biggest names in the genre, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Van Morrison, Chuck Berry, Jack Bruce and Alexis Korner.
His seventh studio album, Manchester Evening Blues, was released in November 2025, capturing the energy of his live performances – power, emotion, virtuosity and a touch of humour. Recorded in Zagreb in April of the same year, the album stays rooted in the blues, while Beaker’s playing also draws on jazz, rock and soul.
In 2017, he was inducted into the U.S. Blues Hall of Fame as a “Legendary Blues Artist” – recognition of more than five decades dedicated to the blues.
Last year, he joined us at Bar Singles for post-wrong weekend. Now, on 10 October, he returns to Sofia – this time at Jazz-Café, House of Culture “Sredets”.
